AAA is authorized by the U.S. Department of State to issue International Driving Permits (IDPs), required if you plan to drive outside the United States at any time.
To get a permit, bring your valid U.S. Driver’s License to your AAA Travel Store. Our Travel Counselors will take your photo and collect your $20 fee and application. Your International Driving Permit will be delivered to you on the spot, and is valid in over 150 countries, which are listed on the IDP application. Learn more and download an application.
We can also help you obtain an Inter-American Driving Permit, valid in Central and South America. When traveling, bring your new permit along with your state-issued identification with you.
